Wow. This absolutely blew me away. There are certain lines which just blew my mind. I read the story, took a nap, got up and I was still reeling over how good this was. Your art is being able to say something so big by using so little.
"When Arthur wakes up, amber autumn sun is slanting across the bed where Eames was the night before. Still half asleep, Arthur stretches out his hand and rests it in the light, feeling the warmth on his skin."
This was probably my favorite bit. I was just so emotionally choked up. In fact, the last three scenes just really got to me. The listening to the voicemails. The "I'm dying" line. In-freaking-credible. The entire saying goodbye to life is just a really hard idea to grasp and you did it phenomenally well.
So yeah. Basically, I read a whole bunch of stuff - and while plots and some writing gets me all excited, this is really set apart as something special in my mind.
