You know, probably the only sensible thing I ever read in Cosmo was a survey comment from this woman who said she knew it was time to file for divorce when the therapist asked her if, if everything changed that she wanted, it would be enough, and she realized the answer was no. I think Sam and Dean hit that point for me pretty early in S4; like it quit being The Epic Love Story of Sam and Dean and turned into The Tedious and Protracted Tale of Sam and Dean's Long-Overdue Divorce That All Their Friends are Sick of Hearing About.

So yeah, basically, even if everything that needed fixed got fixed, I don't even see anything in their post-S2 relationship that's worth fixing. It's sad because I still really like the first couple of seasons of the show, but all I see after that is two people who can't stand each other who hang around each other more or less because they have to, and I'm not so much into that.
